After teasing a return to “OG Facebook” earlier this year, the social network on Thursday announced an update that will give users a simple way to connect with friends. The company is introducing a new Facebook Friends file that will only show updates from friends without any other recommended content. Meta explains in a blog post that the idea is to restore features focused on the original Facebook mission of connecting people with friends through a social networking experience.
The tab, which is originally available only in the US and Canada, will present the content of friends, including posts, wrappings, stories, birthdays and demands of their friends.
Previously, the file had only provided one place to see the requirements of your friends and “other people you can know.”
The company in October launched a red-focused redesign of its Flag social network, hoping to attract a new crowd that has abandoned or largely ignored Facebook in favor of other social applications, such as Instagram or Meta Tik. These previous changes focused on connecting users with community information, Facebook groups and videos.
In January, however, CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg said while calling the Q4 company profits that a “return to OG Facebook” was part of its main goals for 2025.
“I think there are many opportunities to do (Facebook) more with cultural influence than today,” he told the investors, adding, “I think some of this will return to how Facebook was first used during the day.”
The Director General did not say at the time what kind of changes they would be in the store, but the update of the Friends tabs is the first of which will come out this year.
In a blog post, the company admitted that the social network had to return to its roots.
“Over the years, Facebook evolved to meet changing needs and created better class experiences in groups, videos, market and more, but the magic of friends has fallen away,” the post reads.
Tab Friends New Friends is available through the navigation bar on the Facebook house source and will be accessible through the app section of the app, the company says.
Users can also choose to drink their friends’ tab on their home source to make it even more appropriate. To do this, click Settings and privacy > SETTINGS > Tape. You can then choose to adjust your tab bar and you can place the new tab there.
