A local porn application for iOS is coming to the EU through approved the Alts Altstore Pal alternative, made possible by the European DMA (DMA) digital market. On Monday, Altstore announced the start of the hot tube, an aggregate that offers iOS users a way to search and play videos from a variety of adult websites, including Pornhub, Xideos, Xnxx and Jamster.
While it has always been possible to browse online, including porn websites, from iPhone online browser, DMA allows app developers to issue iPhone and iPad apps through alternative market countries in the EU.
These alternative Publishers of the App Store can make decisions about the types of apps that will allow, including those that would otherwise run Apple App Store instructions.
As Apple explains in a supporting document, these applications still have to go through a notarization process to meet “basic platform integrity standards”. But, Apple warns, alternative app stores can choose to publish non -appreciated applications that can include things such as pornography, drugs and alcohol, weapons, hate speech and more.
Altstore claims that the approval of the hot tube app is the first to go through the notarization process to be approved for distribution on the iPhone. Despite the nature of the content, the company says they had no problem for the app to be approved, though this is likely because Apple has often used porn as an example of the app they now have to allow under DMA.
According to the developer of Altstore Riley Testut, the company will use the new opportunity to donate its Patreon revenue to cause support workers and others in the LGBTQ+ community during February, including the Trevor project and the Red Umbrella Fund.
“We feel that this is necessary to fight the latest harmful policies by politicians, Meta and others, and we encourage them all to help yet,” Altstore account was shared in social media posts.
The hot tube app was developed by an independent developer who goes from C1D3r, and was previously active in the Jailbreak scene. (Jailbreaking is the act of disrupting Apple’s integrated security protection to install not approved applications on the iPhone.)
Applications themselves trade as a native alternative to porn websites that protects users from advertising, tracers and pop-ups. The app also contains integrated research, gestures, personalizable controls and single features of subscribers, such as advanced research, filtering and categories on numerous networks.
