Fintech’s polyphistic investors and co -founder of investor Qed Frank Rotman said on Friday that he will go to a partner Emeritus part of the year to focus on establishing his beginnings.
But those startups will not necessarily be financial technology companies. In a post on X, Rotman – who helped start Qedi in 2007 – stated that the “first business” he plans to get out of the land is in the music industry. “
He wrote: “It is easy to call me crazy about all the apparent reasons, but it’s worth reserving judgment until you learn more about business that has been evolved in my head and sat on the shelf for years. It will be a pleasure to build and you can actually make a big difference in an industry that no one could imagine.”
Rotman began Alexandria, Ved -based Virginia, who today has $ 4 billion in management asset, nearly two decades ago with Nigel Morris and Caribou Honig. He led the firm’s investment in Karma loan and played a role in QUED investment in Unicorns like Greensky, Flywire and Sophie. (In fact, QUD was the first institutional money in Karma Karma.) Other companies that the firm has supported include Creditas, Nubank, Avidxchange and Bitso.
QED invests exclusively in companies that build financial technology in the pre-phases in series A.
Rotman, who passes with the “Fintech Junkie” handle on X, said he will move on to his new role on January 1, 2026. He will continue to serve a part -time advisory role for the next years.
In addition to the beginning of the founding music, Rotman said he is likely to plan to write a focused book about “his observations and frames for the start and the worlds of VC”.
He wrote in the X Post: “This should not surprise anyone who knows me – writing is my oxygen. I can’t imagine a life without it even though chatgt and claude are better writers than me.”
In a statement, Qed Nigel Morris management partner noted that he and Rotman had worked together for over 30 years – earlier in Capital One.
“Frank, at the core of him, is an entrepreneur and I have no doubt that he will shine in his next chapter,” he said.
QED investor partner Amias Gersy will be promoted to lead the US investment team.
