Lux, which makes the iPhone camera app Halide, released a roadmap on Monday detailing the next version of the app, called Halide Mark III, due out next year.
The company said the Halide Mark III will ship with two new features: Color Grades and its HDR (high dynamic range) photo display. The company plans to include color grades or filters that will make images look like they were taken using film cameras. It already has a similar feature in its video app, Kino.
The app will also get a redesign to integrate new features into the UI. Notably, Lux released the Halide Mark II in 2020.
Over the past few years, Lux has developed its own algorithms for various features in Halide, such as super-resolution for macro shots and a process-free mode that doesn't subject photos to post-processing as much as possible.
The company has also launched a Discord server for the community, where it will post the TestFlight link to try the Halide Mark III in early access before it is released.
