The signal of the coded messaging app continues to see spicy downloads in the wake of the messages scandal that saw Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg added to a group conversation, where high -ranking officials in the Trump administration were discussing an attack on the Houthi rebels in Yemen. Covering the resulting press around the flow of these sensitive plans has been pushing more people to control the Signal app for the first time, leading to a doubling of its downloads.
According to the Appfigules application intelligence provider, the downloads increased by 26% on the day the news was broken, an indication that users were curious for the app used by Trump administration members. The next day, the dismissals were thrown into 193,000 and until Wednesday hit a comprehensive height of 195,000, the firm noted.
By comparison, the signal usually sees on average 95,000 discharges on an average day.
Appfigures has been following the impact of the scandal on the signal app from day one. Earlier revealed that the signal app downloads through IOS and Google Play were increased to 28% on Monday when the news initially broke down, with 45% downloads and downloads in Yemen UP by 42%.
The Trump administration has rejected the seriousness of the incident, where the Atlantic journalist was accidentally added to a group conversation among officials.
Although Secretary of Defense Peter Hegseth, who was in conversation with VP JD Vance and others, denied that “war plans” were separated through the coded application of conversations, the Atlantic later published the full topics of messages, which showed officials discussing the time, location and weapons that the US would use in the attack. Trump has since taken to attack the media for the continuous incident coverage.
The signal application itself was not at risk of allowing this leak. Instead, the journalist was randomly added to the thread. National Security Adviser Michael Waltz has accepted the responsibility to make the group talk in the first place, but has diverted the blame for embarrassing mistake.
Appfigures foam the duplication of emissions to the old advertising “the entire press is good press”, as the scandal increased the visibility of the signal and is likely to introduce the app for thousands of users for the first time.
