While Tiktok continues to build his research experience, the social network is now showing ratings for selected places immediately within the comment tab of a video. The new feature, which seems to be a test, eliminates the need to perform a new search or open Google when you encounter a tiktok and want to learn more about it.
Tiktok users who have access to this new feature will see a new “Review” tab on the right after clicking to see video comments.
For example, if you come across a video of Central Park in New York City, where the creator has labeled location, you will be able to see user star ratings for location, their written ratings and their loaded photos, if any.
You can also click on the username of a reviewer to visit their Tiktok profile from this section, which distinguishes this feature from an early Google Map integration, which was assigned with a Google Map icon.
Although the new feature may be a welcome addition to some, others may think it collects the user’s experience when looking at content.
The measure is the last way Tiktok is seeking to expand the ambitions of his search for Google.
In 2022, a Google executive suggested that Tiktok was eating in his essential services, searching and maps, especially for new users. Ahead to date, and Tiktok has challenged Google’s dominance in several areas.
In addition to becoming a major stop for the searches of the countries between General Z, Tiktok added image search skills last year that allow users to take or upload a photo to find similar products in Tiktok Shop.
In September 2024, Tiktok also began allowing advertisers to aim for the site of his search results through “Tiktok searching of search advertising”, a keyword -based search solution created to display brand advertising in search results.
It is unclear if Tiktok plans to issue the file of its ratings more broadly, as the company refused to provide comments before publication. However, in Techcrunch tests, we found that only a few videos with a labeled place would display the function.
